Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Design Draftsperson to join the Projects & Engineering team in Kurri Kurri, NSW. You will prepare designs, specifications, drawings and technical documentation for fixed and mobile plant assets, collaborating with engineers and project teams across capital projects.

The role requires 3–5 years in engineering project teams, strong AutoCAD skills with SolidWorks preferred, and knowledge of AS1100 drawing standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in engineering project teams.
• Experience in industrial, mining, processing or heavy industry environments.
• Experience producing detailed construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept layouts, detailed designs and construction drawings.
• Produce technical specifications and drafting documentation packages.
• Assist with the delivery of drafting design scopes across fixed plant projects.
• Ensure all drawings comply with AS1100 and quality requirements.
• Review and check drafting deliverables to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams.
• Coordinate with external contractors and stakeholders as required.
• Support the delivery of safe, efficient and maintainable design solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the drafting function.

Design Draftsperson

Location: Kurri Kurri, NSW

Our client is seeking an experienced Design Draftsperson to join their Projects & Engineering team based in Kurri Kurri. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of fixed plant projects, ranging from bulk depot facilities through to large-scale, technically complex manufacturing plants, while collaborating within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Design Draftsperson, you will be responsible for preparing designs, specifications, drawings and technical documentation for the construction and modification of fixed and mobile plant assets. You will work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver practical, compliant and high-quality design solutions across a variety of capital projects.

• Prepare concept layouts, detailed designs and construction drawings.
• Produce technical specifications and drafting documentation packages.
• Assist with the delivery of drafting design scopes across a range of fixed plant projects.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant Australian Standards and quality requirements.
• Review and check drafting deliverables to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams.
• Coordinate with external contractors and stakeholders as required.
• Support the delivery of safe, efficient and maintainable design solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the drafting function.

About You

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience working within engineering project teams.
• Proven experience in an engineering drafting role within industrial, manufacturing, mining, processing or heavy industry environments.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, with SolidWorks experience highly regarded.
• Sound knowledge of AS1100 drawing standards.
• Experience producing detailed construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Practical understanding of fixed plant equipment, materials handling systems and industrial infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Flexible Working

While flexible work arrangements are available, successful candidates will be required to be office-based initially to support onboarding and collaboration with the broader team. Over time, there will be an opportunity to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday remaining core office days.
