Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Director, Internal Audit to lead forward-looking, risk-based assurance across a major business portfolio, partnering with Executives and senior leaders to strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls.

You will shape the audit strategy, build high-performing teams, and translate complex technology and operational risks into actionable insights that support resilience and sustainable performance. Flexible, hybrid work and an inclusive culture are offered.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior leadership experience in Internal Audit, Risk, Assurance within large, regulated organisations.
• Proven ability to develop risk-based assurance strategies and influence executive stakeholders.
• Experience in Big 4 consulting firms in Internal Audit, Risk Advisory, Technology Risk or related leadership roles highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the Internal Audit strategy and annual plan for an assigned portfolio, ensuring coverage aligns to strategic objectives and enterprise priorities.
• Build trusted relationships with Executives and leadership teams, providing independent insight and assurance over governance, risk management and control effectiveness.
• Lead complex audit and advisory engagements with evidence-based approaches delivering meaningful business and risk outcomes.
• Identify and assess emerging, systemic and cross-functional risks, translating insights into practical audit priorities and assurance responses.
• Lead, coach and develop high-performing audit teams and drive continuous improvement across Internal Audit.
