Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management to shape the risk landscape across a major Australian telecommunications organisation. You will own the risk management framework, appetite and culture, driving alignment with executives and the Board.

You will lead cross-functional risk assessments, scenario analyses and reporting, ensuring risk insights influence resource allocation and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in enterprise risk management, non-financial risk or risk transformation within regulated sectors.
• Deep expertise in risk appetite, enterprise risk profiles, Three Lines of Defence models and risk culture.
• Proven ability to translate risk insights into business priorities, investments and measurable risk reduction.
• Strong understanding of risk governance, ownership and translating frameworks into practical decisions.
• Significant Executive and Board reporting exposure with confidence to challenge senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously enhance Optus' enterprise risk management approach to remain effective and fit for purpose.
• Own the enterprise Risk Appetite Statement, indicators, tolerances and escalation triggers guiding decisions.
• Own the Three Lines model ensuring accountability, challenge, oversight and assurance.
• Maintain and evolve the enterprise risk profile, taxonomy and risk register for material and emerging risks.
• Drive risk assessments, scenario analysis and risk aggregation to inform strategy.
• Lead methodology for risk rating, scales and aggregation across material and emerging risks.
• Coordinate risk assessments with Line 2 Partners and challenge risk ratings and responses.
• Lead the enterprise risk culture agenda with leadership expectations and capability improvements.
• Establish an emerging risk process, escalation and consistent reporting and remediation across the business.
• Provide forward-looking Enterprise Risk Profile to Executive management and Board.
• Support risk owners across functions including cyber, controls, resilience and compliance.
