Job summary

CoStar Group in Melbourne is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer - Operations to own the lifecycle of medium-to-large cloud platform components. You will lead a skilled team, drive design through to continuous improvement, and apply ITIL practices for high-quality outcomes.

The role focus is on AWS cloud environments, cost optimisation, security governance, and cross-functional collaboration with networking, security, application, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on AWS cloud design, management and optimisation at scale.
• Strong IaC experience, FinOps and developer experience best practices.
• Solid cloud networking, security, governance and compliance understanding.
• Proactive, outcomes-focused mindset with continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and performance of complex AWS environments.
• Primary escalation point for platform issues, driving rapid incident response.
• Manage identity and access controls with least-privilege provisioning.
• Drive continuous optimisation for performance, reliability, security and efficiency.
• Identify and implement cloud cost optimisation strategies using FinOps.
• Review and evolve cloud architectures with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Oversee platform lifecycle including upgrades, patching and security governance.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing cloud engineering team.
