Job summary

Domain is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer - Operations in Melbourne to lead a high-performing platform team, focusing on AWS and cloud infrastructure, driving reliability and security across the Managed Service Platform.

You will own lifecycle of medium-to-large components, balance operational excellence with technical strategy, prevent debt, optimise costs, automate toil, apply ITIL, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience designing, managing, and optimising AWS cloud environments at scale.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and FinOps principles.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Proactive, outcomes-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams in Cloud/DevOps/Managed Services.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation, maintenance, and performance of complex AWS cloud environments.
• Act as the primary escalation point for platform issues, driving incident response.
• Manage identity and access controls with least-privilege provisioning.
• Drive continuous optimisation initiatives for performance, reliability, and security.
• Identify and implement cloud cost optimisation strategies using FinOps.
• Review and evolve cloud architectures using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Oversee platform lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, and security governance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a cloud engineering team; build client relationships.
