CreditorWatch in Sydney seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to own end-to-end platform slices, driving cloud cost efficiency and reliability. You will shape technical direction for a lean, high-leverage team and build self-service tooling and API infrastructure.

Expect automation-led, AI-augmented operations in a production-first environment. The role reports to the Head of DevOps and is a full-time, hybrid position based in Sydney CBD.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, Platform, SRE, or Cloud Engineering with senior ownership of production systems.
• Deep AWS expertise: ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora (MySQL & PostgreSQL), Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway.
• Terraform at production scale: modules, workspaces, multi-environment, and code-review discipline.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions: reusable workflows, composite actions, and OIDC-based cloud authentication.
• Containers and Docker: building, securing, and operating containerised workloads.
• Observability: hands-on with Datadog or equivalents (APM, SLOs, monitors-as-code).
• Cloud cost management (FinOps): right-sizing and cost attribution through tagging.
• Reliability practice: SLOs, error budgets, on-call, MTTR/MTTD.

Responsibilities

• Drive cost efficiency across a multi-account AWS environment with dashboards, budgets, and right-sizing.
• Eliminate platform risk by retiring end-of-life runtimes and consolidating accounts with guardrails.
• Govern AI/Bedrock spend with attribution and budgets.
• Extend SLO coverage and manage monitors as code in Terraform.
• Make error budgets actionable and reduce alert noise.
• Conduct disaster-recovery drills with documented objectives.
• Extend reusable CI/CD workflows and golden-path templates for rapid production releases.
• Build an internal developer platform with self-service deployments and external API gateway.
• Migrate secrets to runtime injection and consolidate IaC onto a single approach.
• Apply agentic AI to incident analysis and IaC authoring with human-in-the-loop.
