Senior DevOps Engineers (EL1 Equivalent)
12-Month Contract + 12-Month Extension | Hybrid Working
We are seeking 2 experienced Senior DevOps Engineers to join our Fed Gov Client, supporting the design, development and deployment of cloud and data infrastructure.
These EL1-equivalent roles will provide technical leadership across complex initiatives, driving DevOps best practices, cloud modernisation and continuous delivery.
Working closely with business stakeholders and a local full-stack development team, you will deliver scalable, secure and high-quality solutions within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy and support cloud and data infrastructure across AWS and/or Azure.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
- Manage and prioritise technical work queues to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and ensure adherence to integration best practices.
- Develop and maintain code across Python, JavaScript and Golang.
- Lead technical activities within Agile project teams, collaborating with developers and business stakeholders.
- Manage complex technical issues and provide expert advice, guidance and support to senior leadership.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing and managing scalable AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Strong experience establishing DevOps practices and continuous delivery pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Artifactory and Jira.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform.
- Proficiency in Git and experience working within Agile development methodologies.
- Ability to develop and maintain moderately complex code using Python, JavaScript and Golang.
- Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerisation and cluster orchestration.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience administering both AWS and Azure environments, including multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for secrets management and securing sensitive information.
- Experience designing AI-enabled CI/CD automation, including permission-controlled AI agents for automated testing, documentation and remediation.

- Location: Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney

- Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week
- Experience Level: Senior – EL1 equivalent
- Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1)
