Job summary

Maitland City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Development Planner to join the Development Planning team on a temporary, part-time basis. The role involves assessing complex development applications and planning matters, providing expert advice to support quality outcomes across the Maitland local government area.

You will interpret legislation and planning instruments, work with applicants, consultants, internal stakeholders and the broader community, and contribute to process

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Significant experience assessing complex development applications.
• Strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and planning legislation.
• Ability to interpret planning controls and provide sound recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A current Class C driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage a range of complex development applications and planning matters.
• Provide well-considered advice to support quality development outcomes.
• Interpret relevant legislation, planning instruments and Council policies.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and recommendations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development assessment processes.
