Job summary

Ku-ring-gai Council in Sydney’s north is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to lead a broad portfolio of development projects within the Development Assessment Services team. You will provide expert technical advice, mentor staff, and represent the Council in court proceedings when required.

Key requirements include a Civil Engineering degree, 5+ years in development engineering, and strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in development engineering matters.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of local government and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Assess and report on engineering aspects of development applications and construction certificates.
• Provide expert advice on Development Control Plans and relevant engineering standards.
• Mentor junior staff and act as team leader when required.
• Represent Council in Land and Environment Court proceedings and provide technical evidence.
• Oversee the checking and approval of engineering designs for development applications, construction certificates and subdivisions.
• Respond to public and stakeholder enquiries with clarity, professionalism, and authority.

About the role

• Represent Council in Land and Environment Court proceedings and provide technical evidence
