Job summary

Huntress, a remote-first cybersecurity company, is seeking a Senior Detection Engineering and Threat Hunting Analyst in Australia. You’ll join a fast-moving team protecting enterprises by turning threat intelligence into practical detections and proactive hunting across millions of endpoints.

You’ll own building high-fidelity detections, run hypothesis-driven hunts, and collaborate with the SOC and Adversary Tactics teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, SOC, MDR, or incident response.
• Intermediate knowledge of Windows internals.
• Working knowledge of Linux, macOS, Microsoft 365, Azure, and Google Workspace.
• Experience developing, testing, tuning, and documenting detections from threat intel, hypotheses, or investigations.
• Ability to communicate findings through clear written reports.

Responsibilities

• Create, test, deploy, monitor, and tune detections; retire underperforming rules.
• Develop rules for ITDR, SIEM, EDR across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Manage DE&TH requests from partners or internal teams.
• Conduct hypothesis-driven hunts across Huntress telemetry.
• Translate IOCs and TTPs into refined detections via Git workflows.
• Build/refine hunting dashboards and queries.
• Review hunter activity to surface likely intrusions for deeper investigation.
• Escalate and report intrusions with clear guidance to partners.
• Contribute to community projects and Huntress content; use AI to prototype queries.
