Job summary

Cleared Recruitment is seeking a Senior Cyber Threat Hunt and Emulation Specialist in Canberra. Lead security monitoring, threat detection, hunting, emulation, and incident response within a SOC. Reports to the Deputy CISO, guiding complex incidents and maturing security operations.

The role requires 8–10 years in cyber security, strong SIEM/EDR experience, and the ability to mentor junior analysts in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and/or relevant industry certifications.
• Australian Citizenship with eligibility to hold and maintain a PV Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the investigation and response to high-severity and complex cyber security incidents.
• Ensure effective containment, eradication and recovery activities during security incidents.
• Act as the primary escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 SOC analysts.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise on advanced cyber threats and attack techniques.
• Develop, tune and optimise detection use cases, correlation rules and alerting mechanisms across SIEM and EDR platforms.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting activities to identify previously undetected threats.
• Perform threat emulation activities to assess organisational security posture.
• Analyse threat intelligence and integrate insights into detection and response strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement of incident response processes, playbooks and SOC procedures.
• Mentor and develop junior analysts to enhance team capability.
• Support the development of automation solutions to improve security operations.
