Openx Doors in Australia is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee large, high-compliance projects through engineering with drafting support. You will manage multiple projects across sites in a dynamic, aviation-focused manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes client liaison, certification, manufacturing documentation, and site installation procedures. Willingness to travel, strong leadership, and proficiency with SolidWorks/AutoCAD and MS Project are highly valued.

Qualifications

Formal degree in a relevant field.
Minimum 5+ years in construction/engineering.
Strong drafting and detailing capability with 2D/3D tools.
Ability to interpret Australian Standards and specs.

Responsibilities

Design Management: oversee large high-compliance projects through engineering with drafting support.
Design Drafting: produce 2D/3D concept and detailed drawings for projects and certification.
Project Management: track progress, budgets, and lead times across engineering.
Manufacturing Documentation: create BOMs and MTOs with drafting team.
Engineering Liaison & Certification: coordinate mechanical/structural certification with subcontractors.
Installation Documentation: create site-specific installation drawings/procedures.
Project Documentation: produce operation/maintenance manuals and as-built records.
Customer Liaison: communicate designs with clients and provide guidance pre-construction.
Quality Control: verify manufacturing outputs against design specs.
