Job summary

Billi in Australia is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design and development of innovative new products. You will own complex engineering projects from concept through production release, provide technical guidance, and mentor Design Engineers across the business.

Reporting into the R&D team, you will apply DFM/DFS, lead prototyping and testing, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in product performance and engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design Engineering.
• Extensive product design and development experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced SolidWorks skills including complex assemblies and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of prototyping, testing, validation and DFMEA methodologies.
• Experience designing for manufacture, compliance and certification.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and influence cross-functional teams.
• Mentoring and developing engineering capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex product development projects from concept to production release.
• Create detailed, manufacturable designs and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
• Apply DFM, DFS and sustainability principles throughout the design process.
• Lead prototyping, testing and validation to ensure performance, quality and reliability.
• Drive design reviews and DFMEA activities to identify and mitigate risks.
• Ensure designs meet global compliance, certification and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, compliance and project teams.
• Mentor Design Engineers and provide technical leadership across the NPD team.
• Drive continuous improvement in product performance, reliability and engineering standards.
