Job summary

RHL in Sydney seeks a Senior Design Engineer to drive electromechanical product design from concept to production. You will handle fast prototyping, cost‑effective manufacturing decisions, and ensure alignment with our wellbeing and health‑focused brand values.

The role requires 7+ years in hands‑on engineering, strong CAD (SolidWorks), and experience with cross‑functional teams and international manufacturing partners. Flexible hours and a central Sydney studio are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, mechatronic or manufacturing engineering with electromechanical product design experience.
• 7+ years hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience with domestic consumer products in the food or beverage industry is a plus.
• End-to-end product development experience.
• Motor driven product design experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials and manufacturing processes and rapid prototyping.
• Proven experience collaborating with cross functional teams, locally and abroad, as well as coordinating with international manufacturing partners.
• Familiar with regional and international safety compliance standards.
• Proficiency in CAD modelling (SolidWorks) and mechanical/thermal analysis knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Holistically consider products linked to the company mission and philosophy.
• Detail design of electromechanical assemblies with diverse materials and finishing knowledge.
• Fast turnaround prototype construction, internally and with contractors.
• Perform tolerance stack analyses and design reviews (DFM/DFA) for mass production viability.
• Communicate with overseas manufacturers on development and quality expectations.
• Drive root-cause analysis (FMEA) and corrective actions during development.
• Maintain technical documentation and report to stakeholders.
• Follow product test procedures to ensure quality and safety and regulatory compliance.
• Support development and delivery of the strategic product roadmap.

Role and Responsibilities

You will be a lateral thinker and problem‑solver, taking responsibility for decision making for the complete product lifecycle and its impact on environment and community. You’ll have the enthusiasm and ability to change existing product development approaches.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring products are holistically considered and linked to the company’s mission and philosophy
• Detail design of electromechanical assemblies with a broad range of materials, production and finishing knowledge and surface finishing techniques
• Fast turnaround prototype construction, produced both internally and with contractors
• Performing tolerance stack analyses and technical design reviews (DFM/DFA) to ensure mass‑production viability and quality
• Communicating with overseas manufacturers on component and assembly development and product quality expectations
• Driving technical root‑cause analysis (FMEA) and corrective actions to resolve design and performance issues during development
• Maintaining technical documentation and reporting to stakeholders
• Following product performance test procedures to ensure the quality and safety of product satisfy regulatory standards and brand expectations
• Supporting the development and delivery of the strategic product roadmap in an efficient and timely manner

Your Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, mechatronic or manufacturing engineering with electromechanical product design experience in both R&D and manufacturing environments
• Minimum 7+ years of hands‑on engineering experience
• Experience with domestic consumer products in the food or beverage industry a plus
• End‑to‑end product development experience
• Motor driven product design experience - highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials and manufacturing processes and rapid prototyping
