Job summary

Camden Council is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to undertake investigations and design of civil infrastructure in Sydney. You will prepare estimates and design reports, manage external consultants, and provide engineering advice to multiple council departments, driving projects to defined timelines.

The role offers a temporary full-time arrangement with a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and delivering high-quality civil solutions for the community.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineer or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in scoping, planning, investigating, designing, and estimating civil engineering projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering design standards, guidelines, and practices.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity to tackle complex engineering challenges.
• Knowledge in surveying with modern instruments and GPS technologies.
• Experience in project management, budgeting, and timelines.
• Strong communication, negotiation and report writing skills.
• Experience with traffic, geotechnical and structural engineering aspects is valuable.

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineer or equivalent

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Design Software Programs, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and DRAINS
• Experience in geotechnical, traffic, and structural engineering projects, including investigation, analysis, and design
• Previous local government experience and knowledge of government procedures
• Construction and project management experience, with traffic controller qualifications
