Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Australia to lead systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle of Defence capability projects.

You will ensure requirements are coherent, verifiable, and aligned with customer needs, participating in all lifecycle phases from requirements management to verification and validation. Qualifications

• Degree in electronic/electrical engineering or similar discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in a System Engineering role.
• Experience with Defence acquisition or sustainment programs.
• Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles across the system lifecycle.
• Understanding of engineering change control, configuration management, technical risk management, and technical decision-making processes.
• Eligible for registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ).
• Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to engineering, management, supplier, and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities across the full system lifecycle for complex Defence capability projects.
• Lead requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification planning, and compliance management.
• Establish and maintain the system technical baseline (requirements, architecture, interfaces, design decisions, risks, verification evidence).
• Develop, review, and maintain key systems engineering artefacts (specifications, architecture, interface control documents, verification artefacts, trade studies).
• Lead system architecture and interface management to ensure coherence, feasibility, security, and operational alignment.
• Support engineering decisions through structured trade studies, technical analysis, option assessment, and evidence-based recommendations.
• Contribute to systems engineering estimates, schedules, scope definition, resource planning, and technical delivery planning.
• Develop and maintain verification and validation strategies, plans, procedures, matrices, and evidence.
