Job summary

Resolve Recruit is partnering with a Commonwealth Government agency to appoint a Senior Data Platform Engineer in Canberra. The role focuses on designing, supporting and continuously improving enterprise data platforms and analytics environments with broad tech coverage including SQL Server, SAS, R, Python, Power BI, Windows, Linux and Azure.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing and supporting secure enterprise data platforms or analytical environments.
• Strong capability across SQL, database design, data modelling, integration and data pipelines.
• Experience with SAS, R, Python, SQL Server and/or Power BI.
• Experience with Windows and Linux administration, virtualization and container tech (VMware, WSL, Docker).
• Experience scripting and automation with PowerShell, Bash and Git.
• Experience deploying data-related services in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
• Understanding of platform monitoring, security and IAM.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate with stakeholders.

Resolve Recruit is partnering with a leading Commonwealth Government agency to find an experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer.

Our client relies on sophisticated data, analytics and modelling capabilities to support decision-making with national impact. This role will contribute to the design, support and continuous improvement of the enterprise data platforms and analytical environments underpinning that work.

Based in Canberra, the role offers the opportunity to work across a broad technical environment spanning SQL Server, SAS, R, Python, Power BI, Windows, Linux and Microsoft Azure. Hybrid working arrangements may be considered with the preferred candidate.

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to design and support secure, reliable and supportable data platforms, services and analytical environments. You will also automate operational processes, resolve complex platform issues and work closely with business users, infrastructure, service delivery and cyber security teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and improve secure and supportable data platforms and analytical environments.

• Administer and support analytical technologies including SQL Server, SAS, R, Python and Power BI.

Key Experience and Skills

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting secure enterprise data platforms or analytical environments.
• Strong capability across SQL, database design, data modelling, integration and data pipelines.
• Experience supporting analytical technologies such as SAS, R, Python, SQL Server and/or Power BI.
• Experience with Windows and Linux administration, virtualisation and container technologies such as VMware, WSL and Docker.
• Experience with scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Bash and Git.
• Experience deploying or supporting data-related services in Microsoft Azure.
