Job summary

Ignite is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager for a Federal Government organisation to lead delivery and enhancement of enterprise data and analytics platforms in a cloud-first environment.

The role balances people management, delivery oversight, and stakeholder engagement while driving modern cloud data practices. Contract is 12 months with extension; Australian citizenship and NV1 clearance are required; locations include ACT, NSW, QLD.

Qualifications

This position is suited to a leader who can effectively balance people management, delivery oversight, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership while driving the adoption of modern cloud-based data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Data Engineering teams delivering enterprise data platform services and initiatives.
• Manage team workloads, priorities, resources, and delivery outcomes.
• Oversee platform operations, service management, incident response, and continuous improvement activities.
• Engage with business and technical stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions.
• Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure alignment with architecture, governance, and engineering standards.
• Drive platform roadmap initiatives and promote modern engineering practices across the team.

Essential Experience

• Demonstrated experience leading Data Engineering, Data Platform, or Technology teams within large and complex enterprise environments.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering and supporting enterprise data platforms, cloud technologies and analytics solutions.
• Proven capability managing operational support, project delivery, and strategic initiatives simultaneously.
• Experience working within governance, security, and service management frameworks.
