Job summary

Calleo Australia is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain data pipelines and curated datasets within our analytics platform, powering high-quality analytics and data-driven decision-making. This role requires sound judgement and independent decision-making under broad direction to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

Location can include Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane; Australian citizenship and security clearances are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and datasets.
• Ability to implement data quality practices and perform root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of analytics platforms and data modelling best practices.

Job Overview

Our Federal Government client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain data pipelines and curated datasets within their analytics platform, powering high-quality analytics and data-driven decision-making. This role involves complex, sensitive work and requires sound judgement and independent decision-making under broad direction to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform and publish data into the Agency analytics platforms.
• Develop and optimise data models and curated datasets to support reporting, analytics and data science use cases.
• Establish and maintain strong data quality practices, including monitoring, validation, and issue resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis of data issues and implement sustainable fixes to improve reliability and trust in data assets.
• Provide expert advice on complex data engineering issues and contribute to strategic direction within the team.
• Contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of the analytics platform and associated tooling.
• Apply modern data engineering practices, including testing, automation, and performance optimisation across data pipelines.
• Experience in Dynamics 365 would be an added advantage.
