Job summary

Sigma Healthcare is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to support the rollout and ongoing maturity of our Data Governance Framework across the enterprise. You will collaborate with data owners, stewards, custodians and stakeholders to improve data quality, manage Critical Data Elements, and ensure compliance with governance controls.

Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, you will implement governance processes, develop artefacts, monitor KPIs, and enable responsible and compliant use

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Data, Analytics or related discipline.
• Around three years’ experience in data governance, information management or a related technology role.
• Working knowledge of data privacy legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience within the healthcare industry.
• Hands-on experience implementing data governance frameworks, policies, standards and stewardship models.
• Strong knowledge of Critical Data Elements, data quality rules, metrics and controls.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve data quality issues with business and technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and a practical understanding of data stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the Sigma Data Governance Framework.
• Develop data governance artefacts such as standards, policies, risk definitions, controls, procedures, and policies.
• Implement data governance processes and lead change management across business units.
• Ensure compliance with the Australian Privacy Act, ACCC regulations, and other relevant standards.
• Develop and track metrics to assess the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
• Partner with key stakeholders, including information security teams, to control and audit data access.
• Drive engagement in data literacy programs and actively participate in community forums to advocate for data governance principles.
• Conduct periodic reviews of data policies and provide input for updates or enhancements.
• Support the evolution of the organisation’s AI governance capability by embedding data governance practices that enable responsible, secure, and compliant use of data for AI and emerging technologies.
• Work closely with the Data Governance Manager to create reports and dashboards to monitor our progress against the Data Governance KPIs for the financial year.
• Operate and maintain data governance tools to ensure data assets, metadata, CDE records, risks and controls and stewardship records are up to date.

The team establishes governance frameworks, policies, standards and accountability organisation wide, enabling high-quality data that supports regulatory compliance, operational excellence, AI and analytics, and confident business decision-making across the organisation.

About the Role

The Senior Data Governance Analyst plays a key role in supporting the implementation and ongoing maturity of Sigma’s Data Governance Framework aligned with our Data Governance Roadmap. This role contributes to embedding robust data governance practices across business units to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and responsible use of data. Reporting to the Data Governance Manger, this position supports the rollout of data governance initiatives, enforcement of data policies and standards, advancement of data maturity across the enterprise, and enable and foster cultural change. The Senior Data Governance Analyst works closely with data owners, stewards, custodians and business stakeholders to improve data quality, manage critical data element (CDE), and ensure compliance with governance controls.
