Following the merger of Sigma Healthcare and Chemist Warehouse, this is an exciting time to join a growing organisation and contribute to the continued development of our payroll operations. You will work alongside an experienced and supportive team that values accuracy, collaboration, exceptional customer service and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Payroll Manager, you will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll while maintaining employee records, completing payroll audits and managing a range of payroll transactions. You will also act as a trusted point of contact for employees and stakeholders, providing clear and timely support with payroll-related enquiries.

This is a great opportunity for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and is looking to continue developing their technical payroll knowledge within a large and complex organisation.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Review payroll and direct payment reports to support accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Maintain and update payroll system data, ensuring employee records remain accurate, compliant and up to date.
  • Respond to payroll-related enquiries and provide clear advice and solutions to employees and key stakeholders.
  • Process payments through online banking platforms with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Conduct regular audits of annual leave, personal leave and long service leave in accordance with relevant legislation and agreements.
  • Process complex payroll transactions, including back pays, Lump Sum E payments and superannuation adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and personnel records while supporting internal compliance requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and work collaboratively with stores, distribution centres, support office teams and other business stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy and service delivery.
  • Provide support to other members of the Payroll team as required.
Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Previous experience in a payroll or similar administrative position, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to process information accurately.
  • Well-developed organisational, planning and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to respond professionally to employee and stakeholder enquiries.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm when working to payroll deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of payroll compliance requirements and the ability to interpret relevant awards, agreements and legislation.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as PayGlobal or UKG Pro T&A, advanced Excel skills, financial acumen or experience working within healthcare would be highly regarded.
