Job summary

Qantas Group is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to shape the enterprise data platforms at our Mascot Campus, with hybrid working options. You will lead design and delivery of scalable, secure data solutions and guide engineering standards across the organisation.

Partnering with architects, product owners and senior stakeholders, you will champion cloud-native architectures, data governance and FinOps, mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement in data quality and observability.

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise-scale data engineering initiatives.
• Expert in Snowflake architecture, data modelling and governance.
• Strong AWS and cloud-native data architectures experience.
• Proficient in dbt, SQL and Python with DevOps practices.
• Leadership in FinOps, cost attribution and optimisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of scalable, secure data solutions.
• Set engineering standards to ensure reliability, observability and cost-effectiveness.
• Mentor engineers and conduct architecture reviews.
• Collaborate with architects, PO and stakeholders to define technical direction.
