Job summary

Talent is seeking a senior Data Engineer to lead enterprise data engineering while remaining hands-on with design, development and delivery of data solutions across the organisation. You'll blend technical leadership with practical coding in SQL, data modelling and ETL, collaborating with architects, analysts and stakeholders to deliver scalable data assets and improve engineering practices.

The role offers a hybrid setup with three days in the Canberra office and flexible days, and requires

Qualifications

• Strong experience across enterprise data warehouse platforms (MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks).
• Advanced SQL, including optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Programming experience with Python, SAS, R and/or Java.
• Understanding of data models, specifications and solution designs.
• Experience with DevOps environments and structured release management.
• Experience with AWS, S3, Glue or similar cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing enterprise data integration solutions, ETL processes and analytical datasets.
• Leading technical delivery of new data assets from design through deployment and support.
• Providing technical leadership via design and code reviews.
• Developing and optimising SQL, data models and supporting technical solutions.
• Improving data delivery frameworks, development standards and engineering practices.
