Job summary

Talent is seeking a senior Data Engineer to lead enterprise data engineering while remaining hands-on with design, development and delivery of data solutions across the organisation. You'll blend technical leadership with practical coding in SQL, data modelling and ETL, collaborating with architects, analysts and stakeholders to deliver scalable data assets and improve engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience across enterprise data warehouse platforms (MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks).
• Advanced SQL, including optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Programming experience with Python, SAS, R and/or Java.
• Understanding of data models, specifications and solution designs.
• Experience with DevOps environments and structured release management.
• Experience with AWS, S3, Glue or similar cloud technologies.

Job description

• Lead enterprise data engineering while staying hands-on with design, development and delivery
• 12-month contract + 12-month extension
• Must be an Australian Citizen with Baseline clearance - NV1 desirable

Take on a senior data engineering role where you'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership across complex enterprise data initiatives.

You'll work across data integration, ETL, analytical datasets and enterprise data platforms, providing technical direction while still getting into the detail of SQL, data modelling, code reviews and implementation.

The Role

As a Data Engineer, you'll work closely with architects, analysts, developers, testers and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and maintainable data solutions while helping improve engineering practices across the broader team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing enterprise data integration solutions, ETL processes and analytical datasets
• Leading technical delivery of new data assets from design through to deployment and operational support
• Providing technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews and implementation guidance
• Developing and optimising SQL, data models and supporting technical solutions
• Improving data delivery frameworks, development standards and engineering practices

About You

We're particularly interested in:

• Strong experience across enterprise data warehouse platforms such as MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks
• Advanced SQL, including optimisation, troubleshooting and reverse engineering existing code
• Programming experience with Python, SAS, R and/or Java
• Strong understanding of data models, technical specifications and solution designs
• Experience working within DevOps environments, including version control and structured release management
• Experience with AWS, S3, Glue or equivalent cloud technologies would be highly regarded
