Job summary

Exclaim IT is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a federal government client. You will build and maintain robust ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse, design scalable data models, and ensure governance and quality across the data lifecycle.

You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and analysts while operating in a hybrid work setup with onsite presence required. Canberra and Brisbane candidates are invited to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with Azure data services and cloud-based data platforms.
• Proven background in data engineering, ETL, and data modelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain efficient ETL pipelines for data transfer and transformation.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver integrated solutions using Azure data services.
• Design scalable data models ensuring accuracy, consistency, and performance.
• Ensure data governance, security, and quality across the data lifecycle.
• Document specifications, data flows, and operational processes.
• Identify and resolve data-related issues and implement lasting solutions.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and performance tuning.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and apply insights to tools and processes.
• Take on additional tasks as directed by leadership.
