Job summary

Versent is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver cloud-native data platforms and AI-powered products for Australia’s leading organisations. You will work with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS and Azure to build scalable pipelines, data architectures and governance frameworks while partnering with clients to extract real value.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering or related software roles
• Hands-on Snowflake production experience
• Experience with Databricks and lakehouse architectures
• Advanced SQL and Python/PySpark skills
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration (Airflow)

Responsibilities

• Build and optimise modern data platforms using Snowflake and Databricks
• Develop batch and real-time data pipelines for analytics, reporting, AI and operational use cases
• Create AI-powered data products using Snowflake Cortex, semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Design scalable, secure and reliable data architectures across AWS and Azure
• Implement data quality, observability and governance frameworks
• Work directly with client stakeholders to shape requirements and solve complex business challenges
• Apply AI-assisted engineering approaches using tools like GitHub Copilot and agentic workflows
• Drive performance, scalability and cost optimisation across cloud data environments
• Contribute to technical design, estimation and delivery planning across consulting engagements
