Job summary

NSW Treasury is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that support performance management across Treasury.

You will analyse complex data from multiple systems, apply validation and testing to identify insights, strengthen data quality and enable self-service analytics through clear documentation and training. Flexible working options in Sydney CBD are offered.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, Power Query, DAX and data modelling.
• Strong SQL capability and experience working with complex datasets, enterprise data sources or data warehouses.
• Demonstrated experience delivering business intelligence solutions from requirements gathering and solution design through to development, deployment and ongoing support.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Talend, Power Apps or Power Automate, together with Python, R or similar analytics technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to validate business logic, identify data quality risks and translate complex findings into clear insights and recommendations.
• Strong data visualisation and reporting capability, with an understanding of user-centred design, reporting governance, security, data integrity and performance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that support performance management and informed decision-making across Treasury.
• Analyse complex data from multiple systems and sources, applying reconciliation, validation, testing and investigation to identify trends and insights.
• Help strengthen data quality, reporting reliability and a single source of data truth.
• Translate business needs into sustainable analytics products and support self-service analytics through training and documentation.
