Job summary
Westpac is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead hands-on engineering across Shared Data and AI, Digital, or Contact Centre teams. You will provide technical leadership within a squad, shape complex work, and own production outcomes with emphasis on security, resilience and observability.
The role supports mentoring, reviews, and a culture of learning in a hybrid Westpac Technology environment. You’ll work on customer-facing web/mobile experiences, APIs, data products, and cloud services, with
Qualifications
- Deep hands-on engineering capability with exposure to production systems.
- Ability to reason about design, security, observability, and reliability in production environments.
- Experience coaching engineers through pairing, reviews and constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within a squad or bounded product area.
- Shape ambiguous work and justify technical decisions.
- Ensure delivery balance between speed, security, resilience and operability.
- Lead production readiness with monitoring, incident response and documentation.
- Mentor teammates and raise capability through reviews and pairing.
