Job summary

Westpac Group is seeking a senior, hands-on AI Engineer to join the Chief AI Innovation Office within Data, Digital & AI. You will design, build, test, harden and operate AI capabilities that are safe and ready for enterprise use.

You will lead through technical credibility, guide others, and help ensure responsible AI from concept through to production, delivering scalable enterprise AI solutions in a large banking environment.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on AI engineering experience in a large enterprise.
• Track record delivering AI/ML systems to production with governance.
• Strong software foundations: Python, APIs, cloud and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship complex AI platforms and services at enterprise scale.
• Engineer robust LLM, retrieval-augmented generation and orchestration solutions.
• Move AI capabilities from experiments to production with monitoring and governance.
• Improve engineering standards and reusable patterns; mentor engineers.
• Review designs and code; lead technical investigations and durable fixes.
