Job summary

Department of Customer Service is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer in Sydney. Hybrid work with in-office presence required at McKell offices on Tue and Thu, subject to policy changes. The role focuses on AWS/Azure cloud and OS platforms to strengthen NSW cyber security posture.

You will engage across government teams, lead cloud and OS projects, and contribute to WoG responses to cyber threats while maintaining up-to-date security practices and documentation.

Qualifications

• Essential Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information
• Certifications in IT, Cyber Security and/or Infrastructure and cloud systems qualifications
• Strong knowledge and experience with Azure, AWS, Windows, Unix, and Hypervisors; cloud platforms preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to mitigate cloud and OS platform vulnerabilities and threats
• Lead Cyber IT cloud and OS platform projects for continuous security improvements
• Provide cyber security risk advice aligned with NSW Government policies
• Analyze cyber threats to government services and assets
• Develop and maintain cyber security documentation and standards
• Offer technical leadership on best practices for NSW Government cyber security posture
