Job summary

Quadrant Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Contract Administrator / Commercial Lead in Melbourne to own financial and contractual aspects of a flagship project valued at $100M+. You will oversee head contracts on site, manage major trade packages, and drive commercial reporting while mentoring the site team.

The role requires Australian contract knowledge (D&C, GC21, AS4000/4902), strong negotiation skills, and a track record delivering high-profile commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Drive monthly CVRs, cash flow forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, and executive reporting.
• Administer subcontracts and payment claims under security-of-payment legislation.
• Mentor junior Contract Administrators and cadets.

I am exclusively partnering with one of Australia’s most respected and award-winning national head contractors to appoint a Senior Contract Administrator / Commercial Lead for an upcoming flagship build valued in excess of $100M+.

This builder is widely recognized for delivering complex, architecturally significant projects across the commercial, education, health, and civic sectors. They combine the scale, systems, and balance sheet of a Tier-1 player with the agile, relationship-led culture of a premier mid-tier builder.

Operating as the commercial right hand to the Senior Project Manager, you will hold complete financial and contractual ownership of major packages and head contract administration on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Head Contract Oversight: Lead the administration of head contracts (D&C, GC21, AS4902/AS4000), managing claims, variations, extensions of time (EOTs), and progress valuations.
• Major Trade Procurement: Strategically package, negotiate, and award key sub contractor packages ($10M–$30M+ scopes) with a focus on risk mitigation and value engineering.
• Financial Control & Reporting: Drive monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow forecasting, cost-to-complete analyses, and commercial reporting to executive leadership.
• Subcontractor Relations: Administer subcontracts, manage payment claims under statutory security-of-payment legislation, and resolve commercial disputes proactively.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor junior Contract Administrators and Cadets across the site commercial team.
  

What We’re Looking For

• Commercial Track Record: Demonstrated delivery as a Senior or Lead CA on Australian commercial projects, ideally with direct exposure to works valued at $80M–$100M+.
• Contractual Acumen: In‑depth knowledge of Australian standard forms of building contracts (D&C, Lump Sum, GC21, AS4000/4902).
• Strong Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to run competitive, thorough procurement processes and maintain commercial margins.
• Qualifications: Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent.
