FutureYou is seeking a Senior Projects Lawyer to join its in-house legal team in Sydney. The role focuses on supporting commercial teams across large transport, civil and energy infrastructure projects, with emphasis on risk management and SOPA compliance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in private practice or in-house within construction.
• Experience in construction litigation across large projects including road, rail and tunnels.
• Knowledge of Australian construction law and SOPA regimes.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent influencing and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time counsel on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and statutory compliance under the head contract.
• Draft, review and negotiate subcontracts, consultancy agreements, and major supply contracts.
• Advise on variation claims, EOTs, head contract notices, and SOPA payment claims.
• Proactively manage operational risks to avoid disputes.
• Advise the business on compliance and risk management.
