Job summary

Public Sector People is seeking an experienced Construction Commercial Manager to join a Queensland Government infrastructure delivery team. You will provide independent commercial oversight, review complex contracts, and help resolve commercial issues across multiple construction projects.

The role strengthens contract administration practices, supports risk management, and guides delivery teams to ensure compliant and effective contract performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial management and administration of Australian construction contracts.
• Knowledge of variation assessments, contractual notices and dispute resolution.
• Ability to interpret contractual provisions and assess commercial risks and entitlements.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to provide independent, practical advice on complex matters.
• Excellent written communication for clear commercial recommendations and contractual correspondence.
• Experience supporting project managers and delivery teams with contract administration.
• Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation and contract management practices.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and capability-building across project delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial advice and independent reviews across a portfolio of construction projects.
• Review contractual variations, including entitlement, supporting evidence, valuation methods and recommendations.
• Review notices, variation directions, completion notices and letters of acceptance for contractual compliance.
• Identify contractual risks, commercial exposure, inconsistencies and improvement opportunities.
• Act as escalation point for complex commercial issues, disputed variations and disputes.
• Provide contract interpretation and risk advice with practical resolution strategies.
• Support project teams with contractual negotiations and matters requiring formal legal advice.
• Develop and deliver training and guidance to improve contract administration across teams.
• Develop templates, checklists and processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Review standard government construction contracts and suggest improvements to risk allocation and outcomes.
