Job summary

MMD Recruitment seeks an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a major hyperscale data centre project in Sydney. This senior role oversees commissioning across electrical, mechanical, controls and mission-critical infra to ensure full testing, validation and handover.

The candidate will collaborate with engineering, construction, vendors and operations to drive commissioning from installation verification through IST and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• 15+ years’ experience across engineering, construction and commissioning.
• Data centre or mission-critical infrastructure experience.
• Electrical and mechanical building services knowledge.
• Experience with commissioning, energisation and IST.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the commissioning strategy and execution plan.
• Lead HV/LV electrical, generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling systems, BMS and controls commissioning.
• Coordinate pre-commissioning, testing and integrated systems testing.
• Manage interfaces between electrical, mechanical and vendor systems.
• Review and approve tests, ITPs and documentation.
• Oversee system energisation and commissioning sequences.
• Lead IST and failure-mode testing on critical infrastructure.
• Monitor progress against milestones and close out defects.
• Ensure handover docs and O&M manuals are prepared.
• Support operational readiness and handover to live ops.
• Provide commissioning reporting and risk assessments to stakeholders.
