Job summary

Sydney Water is seeking a Commercial Manager to act as embedded commercial support on major capital projects, complex contracts and developer agreements. You will evaluate options, build and assess financial models, and support negotiations that protect Sydney Water’s interests.

You will work with Infrastructure Delivery, Planning, Finance, Legal, Procurement and Regulatory teams from early shaping through execution, delivering robust business cases and informed recommendations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in commercial roles within large organisations or infrastructure advisory.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop strategies and negotiate complex arrangements.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement with senior decision-makers.
• Deep understanding of factors affecting large utilities (political, economic, regulatory).
• Experience in deal transactions, due diligence, valuation, and cash flow modelling.
• Ability to build financial models incorporating regulatory and tax considerations.

Responsibilities

• Act as embedded commercial support on complex projects and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Develop and present financial models and business cases for complex propositions.
• Identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes for Sydney Water.
• Develop commercial and negotiation strategies to mitigate risks and enable delivery.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess options and inform decisions.
• Create robust business cases maximizing value while considering external factors.
• Draft term sheets and contract documents with legal and other stakeholders.
• Support board and executive papers with commercial insights.
