Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce, business, economics or a related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years as a financial or commercial analyst in a large organisation, including corporate planning, commercial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, plus hands-on SAP Finance experience.
• CA/CPA/CFA qualification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance financial models for corporate and project finance, investment returns and funding structures.
• Support business planning, budgeting and forecasting, and deliver regular financial reporting and decision-support tools.
• Lead month-end close as required, including journals and explaining performance against plans.
• Identify opportunities to tighten controls and streamline processes.

Some finance roles report on the business. This one helps decide where it goes next. As a Senior Commercial Analyst, your modelling and insight will shape how capital and operating spend is allocated across essential infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

About our client

Our client is a large, established organisation in the Australian infrastructure sector, operating in a complex commercial environment. Finance works closely with commercial, project and legal teams, so your analysis moves quickly from the model to the decision.

The role

Reporting to a Finance Manager, you'll be a senior member of the team. You'll work autonomously on complex problems, often in changing situations, and turn detailed analysis into clear advice for stakeholders across the business and for external consultants and advisors.

What you'll work on

• Maintaining and enhancing financial models to evaluate corporate and project finance, investment returns and funding structures, plus commercial modelling for business cases, bids and tenders covering viability, risk and scenarios
• Supporting business planning, budgeting and forecasting, and delivering regular financial and statistical reporting, along with tools that make decisions faster and easier
• Leading month-end close as required, from processing journals to reviewing results, and working with business partners to explain performance against plans and project milestones

What you’ll bring

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce, business, economics or a related discipline
• At least 3 to 5 years as a financial or commercial analyst working with complex and detailed financial information in a large commercial organisation, including corporate planning, commercial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, plus hands‑on SAP Finance experience
• Ideally CA/CPA/CFA qualified

You’ll also bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, close attention to detail and sound commercial judgement. Just as important is the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to non-finance audiences, build productive working relationships, and handle sensitive financial and commercial information with discretion.
