Job summary

Spotlight Retail Group in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Engineering to build scalable cloud-native solutions across our multi-brand, multi-country digital ecosystem.

You'll work in a vibrant, fast-paced hybrid environment at our South Melbourne office, delivering AWS features, full-stack components, and API-driven services. The role emphasizes robust testing, documentation, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Proficient in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG and web performance.
• Strong Java, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, and AWS-native architecture.
• Hands-on e-commerce experience; headless CMS Content Stack or Commerce tools desirable.
• Agile mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Build maintainable, cloud-native AWS features using sound design principles.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React, NestJS/Node.js, and Java/Spring Boot.
• Design and consume event-driven components and APIs (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Maintain code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and clear technical documentation.
• Leverage AI agents and coding assistants to accelerate debugging, refactoring, and delivery.
