Job summary

Spotlight Retail Group in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Engineering to build scalable, cloud-native solutions across our multi-brand digital ecosystem. You will work in a vibrant, fast-paced hybrid environment at our South Melbourne office.

You’ll design and deliver full-stack features on Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js services, and Java/Spring Boot apps, while leveraging AWS-native architectures and event-driven patterns.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Expert in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG, and web performance.
• Backend expertise in Java, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL and AWS.
• Hands-on e-commerce experience with headless CMS or Commerce tools desirable.
• Agile, adaptable, and thrives in a high-availability retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Build cloud-native AWS features using sound design principles.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js BFF, and Java/Spring Boot apps.
• Design and consume event-driven components and APIs (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Maintain code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and clear technical documentation.
• Leverage AI agents to accelerate debugging, refactoring, and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build maintainable, cloud-native AWS features using sound design principles.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js BFF/backend services, and Java/Spring Boot applications.

• Domain: Hands‑on e‑commerce experience; headless CMS (Content Stack) or Commerce tools experience is highly desirable.
