Job summary

Spotlight Retail Group is hiring a Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Engineering to build scalable cloud-native solutions for our multi-brand, multi-country platform. You will work in a fast-paced, hybrid environment at our South Melbourne office.

The role requires 8–12 years of software engineering experience with strong frontend (TypeScript, React, Next.js) and backend (Java, Node.js, NestJS) skills. E-commerce domain knowledge and a collaborative mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG and web performance.
• Backend: Java, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL and AWS-native architecture.
• Domain: hands-on e-commerce with headless CMS or commerce tools.
• Mindset: agile, adaptable in a high-availability retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Build maintainable, cloud-native AWS features.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React, NestJS/Node.js, Java/Spring Boot.
• Design and consume event-driven components and APIs (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Maintain code quality, tests, CI/CD and technical docs.
• Leverage AI assistants to accelerate debugging and delivery.

• Build maintainable, cloud-native AWS features using sound design principles.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js BFF/backend services, and Java/Spring Boot applications.
• Design and consume event-driven components and APIs (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Maintain code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and clear technical documentation.
• Leverage AI agents and coding assistants to accelerate debugging, refactoring, and delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 8–12 years in software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Frontend: Strong TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG, and web performance expertise.
• Backend: Solid expertise in Java, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, and AWS-native architecture.
• Domain: Hands-on e-commerce experience; headless CMS (Content Stack) or Commerce tools experience is highly desirable.
