Job summary

Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) seeks a Senior Civil Designer / Drafter to deliver high-quality civil design documentation for renewable energy and power infrastructure projects across Australia and internationally. You will produce detailed drawings and 3D models, coordinate with engineers and other disciplines, mentor junior drafters, and help shape BEE's civil capability as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' consulting engineering, design or drafting experience.
• Strong experience producing detailed civil drawings and models covering earthworks, grading, drainage, roads, pavements, stormwater, site development and associated infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering sketches and design concepts and translate them into accurate, coordinated and construction-ready documentation.
• Strong understanding of civil design coordination, drawing standards, constructability and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Proficiency in relevant design and drafting software, including AutoCAD, and other industry-standard civil design and documentation tools.
• A collaborative, pragmatic approach with the ability to contribute technical expertise, undertake review of deliverables and support the development of others within a growing design team.
• Must have full work rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil drawings and 3D models from concept and preliminary design through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Develop site plans, earthworks and grading plans, drainage layouts, road and pavement details, stormwater infrastructure, sections and associated construction documentation.
• Interpret engineering calculations, sketches and design requirements and translate them into accurate, practical and constructible documentation.
• Coordinate civil drawings and models with structural, electrical and other disciplines, identifying clashes, interfaces and constructability issues and working with the project team to resolve them.
• Review and check civil documentation for accuracy, consistency, compliance with project requirements and alignment with engineering intent.
• Provide technical input to design development, design reviews and construction support, including responding to technical queries and incorporating site information and design changes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other designers and drafters and contribute to civil drafting standards, workflows, templates and quality practices.
• Contribute civil design and drafting expertise to bids, proposals and project development as required.

About the Role

The Senior Civil Designer / Drafter will be responsible for developing high-quality civil design documentation across BEE's renewable energy and power infrastructure projects.

Working closely with civil engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, you'll take engineering concepts and design information through to detailed, coordinated and construction-ready drawings and models.

The role combines hands-on design delivery with technical input into design development, constructability and coordination. As BEE's civil capability grows, you'll also contribute to design standards, workflows and mentoring across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

We're looking for an experienced civil designer / drafter who enjoys solving complex design challenges, producing high-quality technical documentation and contributing to multidisciplinary project delivery.

Highly regarded:

• Experience working within a civil engineering consultancy delivering power or renewable energy infrastructure projects, such as substations, switchyards, BESS, solar or associated site infrastructure.
• Experience developing civil drafting standards, workflows, templates, libraries or design processes within a growing engineering or design team.
• Demonstrated experience with Bentley MicroStation software would be highly regarded.
• Experience with 12d software would be highly regarded.
• Experience supporting civil design through construction.
