Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Senior Child Safety Officer to provide high quality child protection services within the Kin Placement Team. You will work in a multidisciplinary setting to support vulnerable children and families and ensure safety through a strengths-based framework.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, assess and provide advice, education and support to foster and kinship carers, including complying with legislative requirements, departmental policies and procedures.
• Engage with current and potential foster and kinship carers to support them in their roles and engagement with the department.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, children and parents to establish and strengthen safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community.
• Provide high quality casework support and advice to inform decisions about the safety and protective needs of children with complex concerns.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned family support services to vulnerable children and families.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development to keep practice knowledge up-to-date and evidence-based.
• Prepare and maintain quality case records in line with departmental case management requirements.

Job description

In this role you will work within a multidisciplinary team and provide high quality, culturally appropriate, child protection services to children, families and carers serviced by the Kin Placement Team.

You will also support colleagues and management in the delivery of statutory child protection services within a strengths-based, safety-oriented framework for practice.

As a Senior Child Safety Officer, You Will

• Recruit, assess and provide advice, education and support to foster and kinship carers, including complying with legislative requirements, departmental policies and procedures.
• Effectively and positively engage with current and potential foster and kinship carers as required to support them in their roles as carers and their engagement with the department.
• Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, children and parents to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community.
• Provide high quality, comprehensive casework support and advice to assist in informing decisions about the safety and protective needs of children where complex child protection concerns are present.
• Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned family support services to vulnerable children and families.
• Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based.
• Prepare and maintain quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
