We work at the nexus of creativity, technology and innovation and we want bright minds and constantly curious people to help us make it happen. As a young university, our goal is to connect, collaborate and make an impact with purpose and passion.

About the Role

The Senior Central Services Officer is accountable to the Manager, Central Services and is responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of Central Services across the University. The role combines team leadership and hands-on physical operational delivery with a strategic approach to service planning, continuous improvement and stakeholder support, ensuring campus environments are safe, well presented, hygienic, functional and compliant with relevant regulatory and University requirements.

Working closely with and supporting the Manager, Central Services, the position will coordinate staff and contractors, translate service priorities into effective work programs, and maintain strong communication with staff, students, visitors and service partners. The role provides operational oversight across events, relocations, cleaning, hygiene, grounds and health and safety activities, while identifying opportunities to improve service quality, responsiveness and efficiency.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring regular participation in the physical delivery of services across the campus. The successful applicant will lead by example, including moving and setting up furniture and equipment, preparing spaces for classes, events and relocations, undertaking inspections, allocating work and supporting the team across multiple campus locations.

  • Planning and supervising daily work programs for approximately two direct reports, including allocating priorities, monitoring performance and building team capability.
  • Supporting the Manager, Central Services with service planning, operational reporting, stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement and the implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinating and actively participating in classroom, event, exhibition, function and office-relocation setups.
  • Physically moving, arranging and setting up furniture, equipment and materials required to support University activities.
  • Managing contractors and coordinating services to achieve agreed safety, quality, time and service outcomes.
  • Undertaking regular inspections of public spaces and facilities, resolving operational issues and ensuring presentation standards are maintained.
  • Taking a strategic and customer-focused approach to service delivery by analysing demand, anticipating emerging needs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and the campus experience.
About You

As the Senior Central Services Officer, you will have:

  • Ability to carry out physical works, i.e. movement of furniture and equipment frequently.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a small operational team, including allocating work, setting priorities and managing performance.
  • Extensive hands-on experience coordinating event setups, office relocations and the safe movement and installation of furniture and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver services strategically, support continuous improvement and translate organisational priorities into practical work programs.
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets, procurement and service performance in a complex operational environment.
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning, grounds and pest-control services, supported by experience using works management systems or similar computerised service-management tools.
Other mandatory requirements;
  • Current NSW Driving Licence
  • Working With Children Check (current or ability to obtain one if successful)
  • The successful candidate for this position will be asked to consent to a criminal record check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
