Job summary

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) in Morwell seeks a Nugel Senior Case Manager to support Aboriginal children and families within the child protection system. You will collaborate with government and sector partners to achieve safer, home-based outcomes, applying cultural therapeutic approaches.

The role requires leadership, trauma-informed practice, strong documentation, and the ability to manage complex cases. A Social Work degree and checks are required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates alignment with VACCA’s values and purpose; able to lead and advocate.
• Shows respect for Aboriginal cultures with commitment to learning and awareness of issues.
• Experienced in trauma-informed, culturally safe practice with Aboriginal children and families.
• Excellent yarning, listening, and negotiation with Aboriginal families and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of child development, attachment, trauma, and relevant legislation.
• Skilled in risk assessments, care planning and accurate case documentation including court reports.
• Ability to collaborate with other services and stakeholders to support outcomes.
• Leadership, mentoring and resilience; focus on team wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Work with Aboriginal children and families and government/sector partners to improve outcomes.
• Apply Nugel’s Cultural Therapeutic Ways approach in case management.
• Support Team Leader and senior staff; take on higher duties as delegated.
• Manage a higher workload of more complex cases.
