Job summary

VACCA is seeking a dedicated practitioner to engage Aboriginal families with children aged 0–18 to promote safe family functioning and prevent removal where possible. The role includes collaborating with Child Protection and other services to support family goals.

The successful candidate will bring 3–5 years of relevant experience, knowledge of child development and trauma-informed approaches, and a deep commitment to cultural safety when working with Aboriginal communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years as a practitioner in relevant fields.
• Understanding of child development and family functioning.
• Experience with attachment theory, trauma and risk assessment frameworks.
• Ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal communities and families.
• Knowledge of Child Protection context in Aboriginal communities.

Responsibilities

• Engage Aboriginal families with children aged 0–18 to support safe family functioning.
• Prevent removal of children and support reunification where applicable.
• Collaborate with external services including Child Protection to support family goals.
• Mentor other case workers and provide guidance on evidence-informed practices.
