Job summary

VACCA is seeking a Senior Case Worker for the Deadly Steps Forward program in Preston, VIC. The role involves delivering trauma-informed, holistic case management to Aboriginal youths at bail and through court proceedings, developing self-determined plans and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree in social work or case management, experience with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and strong communication and empathy skills.

Qualifications

• Awareness of Aboriginal cultures and issues affecting Aboriginal people.
• Experience in case management with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or vulnerable groups.
• High level of empathy and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to communicate clearly in a culturally appropriate and respectful way with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, holistic therapeutic case management for Aboriginal young people at bail and until court hearings.
• Assist with building self-determined plans and goals to improve justice outcomes.
• Collaborate with staff, Government Departments, Victoria Police, agency partners, young people and families.
