Job summary

VACCA invites applications for a fixed term, full‑time Case Manager based in Morwell, VIC. You will deliver trauma‑informed, holistic case management for Aboriginal young people at bail and through court processes, ensuring access to culturally strengthening supports and urgent needs referrals.

You will engage families and agencies to coordinate health, education and employment pathways. The role supports social‑emotional wellbeing, requires strong empathy and cultural safety, and includes

Qualifications

• Experience in Youth Justice, Case Management, AOD, mental health or similar roles.
• Must hold and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma‑informed, holistic therapeutic case management for Aboriginal young people at bail and until court hearings.
• Offer post‑bail support including referrals to social‑emotional wellbeing, health, education and employment pathways.

About The Role

The Case Managers will provide trauma-informed, holistic therapeutic case management for Aboriginal young people at the time of bail and until court hearings. Provide post-bail support that will include access to culturally strengthening care and support to meet the young people’s immediate needs, including referrals to support social emotional wellbeing, health, education and employment pathways. Specialized training will be provided.

About You

• Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.


• Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.


• Comprehensive knowledgeof Youth Justice and Child Protectionsystems,includingastrong understanding of the reasons whyAboriginal children and young people are over-representedin these systems.


• Demonstrated experience in case management with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or vulnerable groups including a high level of empathy and problem-solving ability.


• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff, Government Departments, Victoria Police, agency partners, young people and their families.

Desirable

• Relevant degree or certifications in Case Management and/or Therapeutic Practices (e.g. Trauma-informed Care, Mental Health and AOD, Domestic Violence, Social Work, Community Development or other relevant areas).

Requirements

• You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence, a current employment Working with Children Check card and undertake a National Police Check.
