Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant, Capital & Projects to oversee project accounting, capital activity and reporting. The role partners with project managers to provide practical financial advice across a diverse portfolio in Queensland.

You will lead one Financial Accountant, driving priorities, coaching and development while collaborating on Finance Information Transformation workstreams.

Qualifications

• Tertiary accounting qualification with professional membership.
• Strong capital and project accounting experience.
• Knowledge of AASB 116, AASB 138, and AASB 16.
• Excellent stakeholder communication.
• Ability to lead a direct report.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted financial accounting support across capital and project portfolio.
• Partner with project managers and stakeholders, offering practical financial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review project expenditure, support asset capitalisation and reporting.
• Oversee fixed-asset activities, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, verification and impairment assessments.
• Support lease accounting, balance-sheet reconciliations, audit requirements, budgeting and forecasting.
• Contribute to Finance Information Transformation activities, including data cleansing, system testing and finance process improvements.
• Lead and support one Financial Accountant through clear priorities, coaching and feedback; prior formal people-management experience is welcome but not essential.
