Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant, Capital & Projects to oversee capital and project accounting across a diverse portfolio. You will partner with project managers, review expenditure, and deliver timely project reporting while guiding fixed-asset activities.

You will lead one Financial Accountant, with potential for formal people management. Hybrid work is available by agreement, and the role is a full-time fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027.

Qualifications

• CA ANZ or CPA membership or eligibility.
• Strong capital and project accounting experience.
• Familiar with AASB 116, AASB 138 and AASB 16.
• Stakeholder engagement and clear communication with non-financial audiences.
• Excel capability at an intermediate or higher level.
• Willingness to support data cleansing and system testing transformation activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted financial accounting support across capital and project portfolio.
• Partner with project managers to deliver practical financial advice.
• Review project expenditure and support asset capitalisation.
• Deliver clear, timely project reporting and analysis.
• Oversee fixed-asset activities including additions, disposals, depreciation, impairment.
• Support lease accounting, balance-sheet reconciliations, audits, budgeting and forecasting.
• Contribute to Finance Information Transformation activities and system testing.
• Lead and coach one Financial Accountant; formal management experience welcome but not essential.
