Job summary

UnitingCare Health in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for Capital and Projects. The role focuses on capital and project accounting and offers exposure to Finance Information Transformation activities within a large not-for-profit organisation.

The role includes leading one Financial Accountant, with hybrid work by agreement and a fixed-term contract to 30 June 2027. Strong Excel and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in accounting, with CA ANZ, CPA or equivalent membership.
• Strong financial accounting experience, including capital and project accounting.
• Ability to translate financial information for non-financial audiences.
• Intermediate or higher Excel capability.
• Readiness to lead one direct report; formal management experience welcome but not essential.
• Experience with SAP, Dynamics 365 or BI reporting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted financial accounting support across capital and project portfolio.
• Partner with project managers and stakeholders, offering practical financial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review project expenditure, support asset capitalisation and deliver clear, timely project reporting and analysis.
• Oversee fixed-asset activities, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, verification and impairment assessments.
• Support lease accounting, balance-sheet reconciliations, audit requirements, budgeting and forecasting.
• Contribute to Finance Information Transformation project activities, including data cleansing, system testing and finance process improvements.
• Lead and support one Financial Accountant through clear priorities, coaching and feedback.
