Job summary

Monash University is seeking a Senior Technical Officer (Bioinformatics) to provide expert bioinformatics advice and analytical support for projects like bulk sequencing, single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics. You will lead complex analyses, translate research questions into robust workflows and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at Clayton campus.

You will develop training and resources to grow bioinformatics capability, contribute to platform services, and build collaborations

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in bioinformatics or related field.
• Extensive experience with R and/or Python for large datasets.
• End-to-end bioinformatics analyses in bulk, single-cell or spatial transcriptomics.
• Experience in Linux/Unix and reproducible workflows.
• Strong communication with researchers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex, end-to-end bioinformatics analyses.
• Apply advanced expertise in single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, bulk sequencing, metagenomics, epigenomics and other high-throughput datasets.
• Collaborate with researchers to interpret results and troubleshoot analytical challenges.
• Develop and deliver bioinformatics training and resources for the research community.
• Contribute to development of workflows, technical services and QA practices.
• Build collaborations across Monash University to support knowledge sharing.
